On Segregation of Central Securities Depository’s accounts

The Central Securities Depository informs on continued process of segregation of financial instruments the holders of which are the citizens of the Russian Federation and/or the Republic of Belarus, or the legal entities registered in the Russian Federation and/or the Republic of Belarus, on the accounts of the Central Securities Depository in systems of international depositories Euroclear and Clearstream.

Segregation process of assets of Russian participants of the Central Securities Depositor was started by the Central Securities Depository in 2022 upon the request of international depositories Euroclear and Clearstream. The process relates to ensuring the compliance with the EC sanctions in relation to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.

Commencing from May 2023 the Central Securities Depository proceeds with the segregation of financial instruments the holders of which are the citizens of the Russian Federation and/or the Republic of Belarus, or the legal entities registered in the Russian Federation and/or the Republic of Belarus, and to the names of which the brokerage accounts had been opened by Kazakhstani participants of the Central Securities Depository.

To ensure the accuracy and authenticity of recordkeeping of financial instruments held in the Central Securities Depository’s nominee holding system, a possibility to withdraw the financial instruments from such accounts (subaccounts) will be available upon finalized transfer of assets of Russian and Belarus citizens and legal entities to specialized accounts (subaccounts) of nominee holding in international depositories.

The Central Securities Depository will additionally inform on completion of transfer of financial instruments.
